Extreme Bunion Deformity Correction
This 81 years old otherwise healthy elderly female declined surgical treatment of her painful left foot bunion deformity (Fig. 1,2) for 5 years until she could almost no longer walk due to a severely painful callus and ulcer under the second metatarsal head (Fig. 3). Again, syndesmosis procedure could correct her extremely severe deformity (Fig. 4,5) since its underlying cause was the same as mild bunions. Her open ulcer healed (Fig. 6) and was no longer painful in walking that she enjoyed so much, only because syndesmosis procedure could restore proper function of her big toe and foot.
